Welcome to the Year 1 Home Learning page!

Here you will find lots of activities to be having a go at whilst you are at home. We will be putting new activities on here every week. Please make sure you send us pictures of your lovely work you have been doing so we can check how you are getting on! We know you will all be working really hard and making us proud and we can't wait to see you all back at school hopefully very soon.

If you have any questions about anything or wish to send us the children's work, please send them to year1@moorlandsprimary.net

Hello Frogs and Newts!

Miss Stevens and Mrs Jenks have loved spending time with lots of you at school and talking to the rest of you on the phone! We hope you enjoy these new activities for this week, don't forget to keep in touch :)

Go Noodle!

Have a look on Youtube at the Go Noodle channel and have a go at following their videos! Frogs have been loving the Superheros Unite one!

Have a look at the short lessons for English and Maths on Oak Academy and White Rose Maths.

All you need is a pencil and paper and you can pause the video clips to answer the questions.

You can always go back to repeat any lessons from previous weeks too!

Count, Count, Count!

Can you practice counting back in 1s from 50 and 100? You could do this on a walk, when you are waiting for your bath to be ready or you could listen counting back songs.

Challenge yourself and ask your grown up to say a number and can you count back from that number or pause a counting back song and say what you think would be next  - remember the number will be less.

Learn about the world with the very fun Pirate Games on BBC Bitesize!

I am special because....

Use this shield template to write or draw all the reasons why you are special. We are all different in our own ways, and that is what makes us special! You might include things like your hobbies, what sort of person you are or maybe your family.

In school we have been reading 'Aliens Love Underpants'. We then designed our own aliens and used lots of adjectives to write descriptions of them. Have a go at creating one yourselves and write a description.

Remember: remember to describe what your alien looks like and how they act/what they are like.

Design a bookmark!

Have a go at creating your own bookmark to keep your place in your book. You could use your favourite book or character as inspiration for your design or you could just decorate it however you like.

Mindfulness 5

Mindfulness activities can help you relax and feel calm when you might feel a bit sad, grumpy or even if you don't know how you are feeling but are a bit 'wobbly'.

Remember that you can repeat mindfulness activities from earlier weeks and can do more than 1 each day.

Think about what has been good today and what you are looking forward to the next day. Share with some one else what you have enjoyed about the day and what you are excited about for tomorrow.

Miss Wallaya
Remind yourself of Phase 2 and Phase phonemes and graphemes by playing Grab a Giggling Grapheme. All you need to do is listen to the phoneme and click on the alien holding the matching grapheme!
Online Safety
You are probably spending a lot more time online than usual so it is really important that you remember the dos and don'ts when you are using the internet. The activities on the ThinkUKnow website are to do with an adult and are simple and quick and will explain how you can stay safe.

Hello Frogs and Newts!

Shadow Drawings

Go outside when it is sunny and using some chalk, draw around your shadow on the ground. What do you notice about your shadow? Maybe somebody else in your family could do theirs too! What is different about yours and theirs?

World Adventure Game!

Have a go at this game on BBC Bitesize (linked below). Follow Captain Carrot around the world and learn lots of new things about places all over the world! Complete the quests to get golden coins!

Become a Sandwich Artist!

Have a go at designing your own perfect sandwich. What would you put inside it?

Once you have designed your sandwich, write some instructions for us to follow so we can make one too. Make sure you use bossy verbs (make, do, spread, cut, grate) and tell us exactly how to make it. You have to pretend we have never made a sandwich before so you can teach us!

Have a go at the Maths challenges below!

Cosmic Kids Yoga

Have a go at one of the Cosmic Kids Yoga videos. You can choose how long you want the video to be and how active you want to be! Choose your favourite one and give it a go!

Amazing Adjectives

Write a description of your pet or favourite toy. Try to include interesting adjectives to describe your pet or toy with as many details as possible.

You could use some of the adjectives from the wordbank to help you. Don't forget punctuation too!

Music Time!
Enjoy the music lessons with Showcase Music School. Click for the Year 1 lessons and listen to the teacher explain the learning and the challenges for each week.
We would love to see the videos of the challenges  -so don't forget to attach it to your email!

                    Squash and Squeeze Counting!

The little old lady brings the animals into her home because the wise old man says it will make her home seem less of a squash and a squeeze!

On this page there are 4 animals in the house, 10 eyes and 16 legs!

Find your favourite picture book and count how many characters are on the page? Can you count how many eyes there are and how many legs? Is there another way that you can solve the problems?

Is it the same on the next page? Can you compare to another book?

More lessons have been added to White Rose and Oak Academy this week and previous weeks are still avaliable.

A teacher will talk through the learning in short lessons and there is one for each day of the week.

You only need paper and a pencil and can pause the video to answer the questions.
