MOORLANDS

PRIMARY SCHOOL
Ladybirds
Year 2
Great Fire of London

Last week, Ladybirds borrowed a resource box from the Hampshire Historical Society. We explored all the resources and made predictions about our new topic! We had fun looking at artefacts and some of us dressed up!
The children drew the front cover for the book of their favourite stories.

World Book Day Reading River
Music
This week, we continued to listen to the Planet's Suite by Gustav Holst but we listened to Venus. Again we drew pictures of what we thought or felt and we then compared the two pieces.

Seeing Venus in the sky

An alien house on Venus

A giant space cow flying through the sky.

On has a high pitch (venus) and the other one has a low pitch (mars)
Both pieces have violins and trumpets. They both have quiet and loud bits
Mars is fast and Venus is slower. The tempo is different.
Music
In music we have been listening to the Planet's Suite by Gustav Holst. The children listened to Mars and drew a picture of what they felt or thought of.

We have been learning about Christingles during our RE sessions. Hopefully the children will be able to tell you all about the different parts and what they mean.

If you have taken a photo of the lit candles, please could you send them to ladybirds@moorlandsprimary.net and I will add them onto here.
Medieval Challenge Day
Ladybirds have had an amazing Medieval Challenge Day! We have been learning about what life was like during Medieval Times and it was hard! Today the children have taken part of lots of activities to help them understand what life was like. We baked our own bread, weaved a placemat, designed a Coat of Arms, learnt a medieval dance and had a banquet! We have so much fun. Thank you very much to parents/ carers for all the effort with costumes. It was a fantastic day!
