The Tudor Banquette

The long awaited day finally arrived. We have been prepping and preparing ourselves for his majesty the one and only King Henry viii royal visit to our school for 10 weeks.
We were tasked with putting on a banquette fit for a king and by gosh I think we smashed it! We sang Tudor songs, we danced to Tudor music, we played our musical instruments and we prepared a feast to satisfy Henry's rather large appetite. What a day to remember!
RE - Exploring the Gurudwara
This morning we were so lucky that we got to bring a very special religious place right into our classroom. Miss Siduh gave us a virtual tour of the local Gurudwara in Southampton and helped us to understand the differences between a Gurudwara and a Christian Church.
We learnt that before you enter a Gurudwara you must remove your shoes and cover your head as a sign of respect. We recreated this in our classroom. It was such a fun lesson!

Tudor Diary Discovery
You will never guess what happened when we returned to school on Monday..! We were called to the woods by Mr Venn as he had made a discovery. In amongst a darkened corner of the woods we found a basket. A basket belonging to King Henry Viii himself. Cautiously we explored the contents of the basket only to discover lots of diary entries from Henry and his wives. This will help us on our English journey this term as we are writing our very own diaries in role as Henry's wives.

Tudor Trip
It's felt like forever but we have FINALLY been on another school trip and we LOVED it! What an exciting day filled with exciting facts and making memories.

All aboard!
Welcome aboard the HMS Titanic! We have spent a lovely afternoon dining in luxury wearing our finest garments and even partaking in a little ballroom dancing. We LOVED pretending to be posh and we called each other by our lord and lady names.
Another marble treat well spent!

Our Quest to Egypt
After months of hard work, we finally put everything we had learnt in our history topic Ancient Egypt and set forth on our secret quest. We travelled across the Egyptian desert, braved the elements and even slipped past the guards! We made it to Tutankhamen's tomb! It was the most magical day- one that I hope every Owls remembers for years to come!

Monday was Odd Socks Day and the start of Anti Bullying Week. We talked a lot about being nice and saying kind words. We all came up with one kind word to have as our class word. We couldn't decide whose to choose so we have 2!!!!

A spooky scary morning...
Following Halloween on Sunday we returned to our classroom to find some unusual events had occurred... We first noticed that our much loved dragons eggs had finally hatched! They left a trail of ashy footprints (and some pretty gruesome piles of poo) all the way to a mysterious door... We had never seen the door before. It had appeared overnight. We asked ourselves where the door came from? Where did it lead? Did the door cause the dragons to hatch or did the dragons cause the door to appear..? We were filled with so many questions. Stay tuned to find out more in our mystery and suspense English unit...

Family Marble Treat 2
We did it! We survived our first half term in Year 4. To celebrate all of our hard work we managed to earn our 2nd marble treat of the year. We played board games and it was soooo fun!

Dragon Eye Clay
Following on from our awesome dragon eye sketching. We have LOVED using clay this week to make our very own realistic dragon eyes!

Reading Royalty
More reading royalty this week! Working hard to everyday! This was the most kings and queens we've had ever!!

Mummification!
Today was a pretty epic day! Today we were historians and took our studies of Ancient Egypt to gory levels. Today we learnt how to mummify an orange. It was pretty gross having to pull out all of our oranges guts! BUT WE LOVED IT!
Star Writers
Our first Literary heroes of the year have landed! With their sensational explanation writing on how to raise a pet dragon. Their imagination and descriptive language was out of this world!

Reading Royalty
Our reading Kings and Queens have been busy already this year. Reading everyday helps our imagination grow and let's us be in charge for the day on Fridays :)

Science - Electricity!
Our first Science topic this year is electricity! What better way to start a brand new topic than to explore all things electrical! To do this we played lots of board games that used electricity. We were then tasked with thinking of as many questions as we could about what we wanted to find out in this topic. "It was the best science lesson ever!"

Our First Family Marble Treat
.jpeg)

We have worked so hard and kick started the year in such a fantastic way that we have already earnt our very first marble treat. We voted as a class and decided to decorate biscuits for our treat. Oh... and of course... eat them!
The Great Dragon Egg Discovery!
Today has been EPIC!! Today something not even in our wildest imaginations happened! We were practicing our mindfulness like any other Wednesday morning when suddenly Mr Venn came bursting into the classroom. He told us he had made an unusual discovery and he knew exactly which Year group could help him. Quickly, we followed him into the woods. The sight that greeted us took our breath away. On the ground there was a unusual shape, almost wing shaped and claw marks scratched into the ground. When we looked closer, nestled in amongst the bushes lay... DRAGONS EGGS!!! We were blown away! Mr Venn knew that our English book was called 'The Boy who grew dragons' so he knew we would be up for this challenge. Mr Venn has tasked us with taking extra special care of the eggs and keeping a 'How to' guide on how to look after them so that if the dragons return and lay more eggs each class can have their own to take care of. This is a very special task that we have been set and one we are very excited to complete!

Practical Maths!
Moving to year 4 is not going to slow us down... ones, tens, hundreds and now thousands!! BRING IT ON! We loved using the base ten to explore with different numbers and represent numbers in different ways.

Mindfulness Lava Lamps
As we have been working so hard at being mindful. We decided to make our very own mindful lava lamps. They were soooo fun to make... and messy!

Parachute Games PE
For our first PE lesson we decided to play some teams games. We wanted to get to know each other and work as a team to achieve a goal. We LOVED it!
