Our Geography Curriculum is planned out to support children from Early Years up to Year 6 to build a progressive spatial sense in order to better understand the human and physical processes that shape our world. Children will navigate the following topics and learn the skills listed in their journey of progression below:
EYFS: The Immediate World – Pupils explore the natural world and seasons, learning to draw information from simple maps and describe their local environment.
Key Stage 1: Expanding Horizons – Focus shifts to the British Isles, the Commonwealth, and "Flying Doctors," introducing basic symbols and the concept of islands.
Lower Key Stage 2: Regional & Physical Systems – Students analyse climate, rivers, and settlements across Western Europe, East Asia, and Egypt.
Upper Key Stage 2: Global Complexity – Pupils master "Spatial Sense" through the study of tectonic forces (volcanoes/earthquakes), international trade, and the contrasting geography of the Americas and Antarctica.
