We're thrilled to announce that Moorlands have achieved the Bronze Award for the Southampton Reading Charter!

Many Southampton schools have been working together toward the same vital goals, and we're proud to be part of this brilliant community effort.

Last year, our focus was on making sure reading is a vibrant part of school life:

  • Celebrating reading every day

  • Prioritising story time

  • Creating inviting reading areas in our classrooms

  • Ensuring every child takes home both a 'Learn to Read' book and a 'Love to Read' book

Last week, two of our keen Moorlands Librarians, along with Miss Nash and Mrs Wright, proudly accepted our Bronze Award! They even got to meet the wonderful author Onjali Q. Raúf and received signed copies of her new book, The Game I Will Never Forget (we've got a signed copy for the school library too!).

A massive thank you to Miss Nash and Mr. Hart, along with all the teachers, for championing reading so hard at Moorlands. And a special shout-out to our amazing pupil librarians for making our library an enticing place to be!

This year, we're aiming even higher as we continue to work alongside other Southampton schools to achieve the Silver Award! Let's keep those pages turning!

The school office is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm

Classroom doors open at 8:50am and registration closes at 9am.

School finishes at 3:15pm each day

Clubs finish at 4:15pm

32 hours and 5 minutes each week
